Christmas
I haven't been posting because I've been having a pretty hectic holiday here in Newfoundland, spending time with family and friends and what-not. Things are starting to cool down now so hopefully I'll get time to post again over the next few days. If not, I'll be back in Halifax on the 3rd, and I'll have nothing better to do but post here. Keep checking back..I haven't abandoned the site.
Merry Christmas to everyone, and have a happy and very inebriated New Years!
Nothing's Like Before

Kingdom Hearts fanart. It's a combination of some of my favourite artwork from the game. Took me about 3 or 4 hours I suppose, which isn't bad considering the depth of the drawing.
I've been a bad blogger lately, sparse on the introspective rambling and heavy on the artwork. But hey, if you want introspective rambling you can read any one of the billion or so other blogs out there.
I Feel Sick
Anger, disbelief, resentment.
All things I feel when I watch this
clip. ( Runs for about 4 minutes, should buffer instantly if you have broadband )
Apparently the United States does not need Canada. Apparently we should consider ourselves lucky that they "allow" us to exist on the same continent. Apparently we're a laughing stock because we promote peace and understanding rather than bloodshed.
I don't know who the blonde woman is in the first segment, but she's just become my most hated person. I'd like to know how in the hell a person like this managed to get on the news anyway, as she is obviously a person of little intelligence, with nothing relevant to say whatsoever.
Sigh...I'm so sick of our southern Imperial neighbors that I could scream. Thanks to you, the world is a much more dangerous place.
An Eventful Day
1000+ Hits!
Seriously, who's been refreshing this page over and over? 1000 hits for an insignificant blog in a little over 2 weeks is crazy. Keep it coming.
Changed my Desktop!
Isn't she purdy? The wallpaper is called "More Fun than Tekken," a great piece that I dug up at
customize.org.
Deviant Art
I finally got around to signing up on
Deviant Art and creating a
profile after drawing the picture in the previous post.
Jon Stewart vs. CNN's Crossfire
If you haven't seen Jon Stewart completely verbally owning the hosts of CNN's Crossfire, you owe it to yourself to
watch the video, or at least read the transcript. It takes balls to do something like this, and to be honest I'm pretty surprised that CNN allowed this to be aired. It's not like them to allow anything that questions their ethics to be shown. Watch and laugh as Republican douchbag Tucker Carlson turns into a whiny little bitch as Jon walks all over him.
The best part?
Tucker: You're a lot more fun on your show.
Jon: Yeah, well you know what's interesting? You're as big a dick on this show as any other show.
By the way, Jon's hilarious new book, "America: A Citizen's Guide to Democracy Inaction," has been named book of the year.
Dimebag Darrel ( and 4 Others ) Shot Dead at Concert
Dimebag Darrel, a veritable heavy metal guitar legend since his days in Pantera, was shot dead yesterday at a Damageplan ( his newest band ) concert in Ohio. Apparently, some crazy motherfucker jumped on the stage and pumped a handful of bullets into Dime at point-blank range before opening fire on the crowd, killing 4 others.
You can read it more about it on
MTV.com.
Now, don't get me a wrong, I'm not exactly a huge heavy metal fan anymore. But still, this news comes as quite a shock to me. For myself and countless of other teens growing up learning to play electric guitar, Darrel was a fucking idol. He was larger than life. He's been prominent in the heavy metal scene for decades and is pretty well known throughout the world.
I have to express my sincere condolences to Dime's many legions of fans and his family for this shocking and terrible tragedy. I especially feel for Vinnie Paul, Dime's brother and drummer for Pantera and Damageplan, who yesterday witnessed his brother's death on stage in what should have been just another routine concert.
A Villain is Born
Kael
Finally got around to drawing my book's primary antagonist. It's just a pencil sketch, but I took some time on the shading, so it looks alright. Basically I just wanted someone who looked badass. His hair came out at sort of a crazy mix between
Axel from Kingdom Hearts II and
Jin from Tekken. Those tattoos are runes... his entire body is literally a runic map.
Don't really feel like going into too much detail on his profile or history right now, so maybe you'll get more on that later.
Look for a color version after christmas, when I have some nice new art supplies.
Working on drawing him in action now.

My buddy Ross makes excellent electronic music, if you're into that kind of thing, check him out
here. You may have noticed his
blog in my links section.
I'm currently rocking "Light ( In Contrast )".
I've Become Spectacular
I'm feeling fucking great today. As usual, I can attribute my elation wholly to my girlfriend, who is quite adept at plucking me from the depths of lugubriosity ( +1 to vocabulary ) and tossing me headlong into a shiny, happy world where I am actually aware of the concept of self-confidence, where I am almost overwhelmingly appreciative of every beautiful thing that life has to offer.
I feel somewhat guilty for not spending much time on her on this site, since she is the single glowing thread that ties every disjointed and incohesive aspect of my life together into a presentable and ultimately coherant package. In every facet of her personality I find some unnattaible idiosyncrasy that leaves me wishing that I could be half the person that she is. Genuinely caring souls are a rarity in this world; genuinely caring souls that are so incredibly beautiful are even rarer still. Yet, I find myself in the constant company of one, which leaves me wondering just what it was that I did to deserve such a sublime fate.
It's almost 4 years for us now. Nothing is tired, nothing is old. We are eternally reinventing ourselves as time goes on, and each incarnation continues to find perfect solace and happiness in the other.
It feels so fucking good to be 20 years old and in love. You should try it sometime.

Concept art for my books. The figures pictured are prominent characters. I originally intended to color this with detail but I liked the idea of having them as shadows, just as the poem says. I plan on eventually adding the (full) poem to the finished product and perhaps a background. Turned out alright though, for a random flash of inspiration at 2 in the morning. I especially like the atmosphere that the leaves give, and I wish I had drawn more of them.

P.S. Despite what you may think, this isn't Cloud and Red XIII from FF7. Cloud isn't an elf, his sword is much bigger, he doesn't wear a cape, and his hair is really crazy. Red XIII is much bigger and has feathers and stuff on his head. SOME GAMER YOU ARE!
I just signed up for this service, and it's pretty cool.
It keeps a record of every track played on your winamp ( or whatever media player you happen to use ), and displays your favourite artists, songs, etc. You can search their user profiles for people who like the same kind of music as you, which is great for making online friends and discovering new bands.
Check out my profile
here.
I'll have a link to this profile in my sidebar eventually so you can keep track of what I'm listening to. Just in case one of you actually likes music other than the plastic, mass-manufactured pop that they whore around these days. Yeah!
Unfortunately, Audioscrobbler seems to be plagued with constant technical problems. Not really surprising, since it's a free service with tens of thousands of users. Still, it's a good idea and a good enough attempt at making it work.
The World at Large
Disappointment
I don't know. Maybe I'm expecting just a little too much from my free blogging utilities. I didn't think that posting 2 pictures would be too taxing on old Blogger here, but I guess I was wrong.
And so, my plans for an update regarding the protests that took place during Dubya's visit here last Wednesday are ruined. RUINED! It's too bad, because I had some really cool pictures of the event, in which a good 4 - 5,000 people took to the streets to let George know that we don't take kindly to war criminals here in Canada. It was a pretty spirited showing, and it was nice to see a diverse crowd that wasn't entirely made up of teenagers and college kids. Thanfully the whole thing was pretty peaceful, unlike the unfortunate protests in Ottawa. It's always a shame when things like this go bad, because it just turns the whole thing into a joke. "If activists are to be taken seriously with regards to social protest, they must, at all times, be prepared to meet the use of force with absolute passivity. -
mblog"
The whole thing was just an excuse for the Canadian higher-ups to pat the Americans on the back, which of course they wasted no time in doing. Bush delivered a delightfully brown-nosing speech, keeping the audience happy, as he always does, with the same playful, Southern "i'm an unintelligible moron," charm that somehow won him the election. Amid the inevitable beef jokes, George thanked us Atlantic Canadians for sheltering hundreds of thousands of wayward Americans during the whole 9/11 thing, and of course, hinted at hopes for future cooperation in his disgusting Ballistic Missile Defense program, which is something that all of us peaceful and patriotic Canadians ought to be very opposed to.
Check out
ceasefire.ca to learn how to make your voice heard in the Ballistic Missile Defense controversy. Send a letter to Paul Martin and tell him that we don't want any part of George's unilateral fuckery, and that we don't support the profiteering defense companies that create and sell mass death.
There's No Place Like Home
15 days now until I'm back home in Newfoundland for the holidays. Life is good here in Halifax now that I have some friends to hang out with, but it doesn't ever quite match up to life at home. Grand Falls Windsor may be the asshole of the civilized world, but hey, it's
home. Nowhere else in the world will you hear phrases like, "Buddy, tell me yer name, 'less yer wants yer head trowed a boulder at it," or "Hard mop on skipper." Nowhere else in the world will you find such a rich subculture of inbred hicks who want nothing more than to be black, or rampant rainbow parties amongst groups of dying-to-be-cool 13 year-old girls. I hate the place so much that I could rant on and on forever about how it's the world's epicenter of superficiality, where absolutely everything is taken for face value and the clothes you wear and the length of your hair matters a thousand times more than what you've got in your head or heart, but the fact is that I somehow fucking
adore the place at the same time. I think that it's because the group of friends I have at home are the absolute best; 15-or-so like-minded souls who managed to find each other through the mess of wiggers and rumor-whoring morons. Probably because we just didn't fit in anywhere else. I can't wait to get home and party with these guys, to surround myself with friends and family, and enjoy having my clothes washed for me and my meals cooked for me. I can't wait to do
nothing. Not that I do much anyway, but hey, at least I won't have to feel guilty about it.
Writer's block is getting bad. I don't have much to say about anything anymore. Hopefully it'll blow over as school comes to an end, and I'll begin posting rampantly again.
Technical Difficulties
I spent the morning marching alongside hundreds of other protesters here in Halifax after President Bush addressed the country from Pier 21. I've been trying unsuccessfully to post the pictures I took for over an hour, so I'm giving up before I smash my face through my montitor. Check back soon and hopefully I'll have them up.
