World of Warcraft

Sorry for the lack of updates friends, but this game has consumed my life.

For those of you who have no idea what a Massively Multiplayer Online RPG is, well...it's like crack in videogame form.

So lately instead of wasting my time in the real world, which somehow manages to combine both chaos and mundanity into one undesirable whole, I've been adventuring with friends in the magnificent lands of Kalimdor and Azeroth as a level 33 Night Elf druid.

I've played a LOT of games in my life, and I have to say that this is one of the finest specimens that the industry has to offer. The sheer size and scope of this game is simply staggering. I can only imagine the amount of work that has gone into creating this game ( and the amount of work still going into it...Blizzard's dedicated team maintains and improves the game 24/7 ).

MMO's, despite being one of the most intriguing and addictive videogame genres, typically have quite a few aggravating features that detract from the gameplay. World of Warcraft takes every MMO pitfall and improves upon it or eliminates it completely, making for a game that spares you the wasted hours of frustration of other MMOs and really brings the fun factor to the forefront. After all, that IS what we're playing videogames for, isn't it?

My last MMO was the incredibly over-hyped Final Fantasy XI, which is like tapioca pudding compared to World of Warcraft's New York steak with a finely dressed baked potato...and caesar salad...and garlic bread.

That being said, updates are gonna be a little slow here at the House of Smoke and Mirrors.
Bear with me, for I have an insatiable addiction that I must satisfy for at least 5 hours daily ( and thats undercutting a whole lot ). I'm by no means abandoning the site. So...yeah!
Stop wasting time at FFXI and by World of Warcraft already. And get on the Shadow Moon server. And get in my guild!

I'll be posting pictures of my druid soon so you can all agree that he is the sexiest man the virtual world has ever seen.

So This is the New Year

Last night I had one of the best times of my young life. My closest friends and I rang in the new year with a veritable smorgasbord of alcohol and marijuana, celebrating the times we've had and the times to come in the new year.

I want to thank all of you for being the best friends a guy can have, and for not only making it possible to exist in this social cesspool of a town, but for making it downright enjoyable.

Tonight will be a sad time for me, as I'm once again required to say goodbye to the people that have shaped my life. Tomorrow I embark on an arduous and enduring 24-hour road/sea trip that'll far remove me from our exclusive little ecosystem, and I don't know when I'll be back again.

With each and every passing year this town loses some of its appeal, and it's to the point where it offers me little more than an opportunity to quell my relentless nostalgia. Needless to say, this is not enough to keep me living here. My life is continually pulling me in new and interesting directions. My girlfriend, who i am absolutely 100% certain that I will spend the rest of my life with, will be done with her school and moving on. There are no opportunities here to get work that will provide me with experience in my chosen field - one can only work menial maintenance jobs for so long. With each year fewer and fewer people return, and the town inherits more of an air of unfamiliarity. My only regret is that my friends cannot accompany me. I don't want new ones. I've already met the best.

I am almost positive that I will be staying in Halifax past the end of the academic year, at least until May, perhaps June. From there, who knows what'll happen.

That being said, I'm not ready to lose you all yet, and I know I have at least one summer of puff'n'dips and woods parties left in me.

Until then;
Best wishes for the new year, and may you all be successful in your endeavors. #loser will unite us and will hopefully continue to do so for years to come.

Cheers everybody.
