Halifax greets President Bush...
A very typical, uneventful Sunday here in Halifax, Nova Scotia. It's 12:45:44, and...
Okay, now it's 12:48:37. Sorry. I'm stoned and I have the attention capacity of a goldfish right now. I keep getting sidetracked on something or other, like an ICQ message or a playlist selection, and 2 minutes later I'll find myself staring dumbounded at my monitor without a single shred of thought in my skull.
In any case, let's get to the subject of the day.
President Bush is scheduled to be in Halifax this coming Wednesday, to thank Atlantic Canadians for their support in sheltering Americans during 9/11. Apparently he's going to be delivering some sort of speech too, but I'm not sure whether or not it will be public...I doubt it. In any case, the Halifax Peace Coalition has quite a welcome in store for Bush: a full day's itinerary of protests and other actions. U.S.-Canadian relations haven't been at their best over the past few years. In fact, this is the first time that President Bush will have visited us since he took office in 2000. After all, increasing Canadian support for legalizing marijuana and same-sex marriage got the propaganda machine turning and incited a ban on Canadian beef in the United States ( mad cow disease! ), which has seriously dented our economy. Nope, not coincedence. Well, at least that's what I and several other million people think. It's not at all far-fetched. Anyway, back to the matter at hand.
Bush's decision to visit Halifax is a strange one, as most events of this significance are held in Ottawa. But he's coming nonetheless, and I'm not sure he's at all going to be impressed by the sort of greeting he gets. I can't wait to see it. If you're in the Halifax area, tell everyone you know, and get out there and let the terrorist know what you think of him.
In case you aren't aware of my opinion of Dubya, I believe that he is the pinnacle of ineptitude, incapability personified; the single worst suited man in the world to have been given such an unfortunate position of leadership.
