It's Cold Outside and Everything is Dead

View from my apartment balcony.

Mother Nature took a big white shit on Halifax this weekend, further solidifying my feelings of pre-winter depression. Mother Nature is definately the most unlikable instance of personification that I've ever come across. I imagine her as wearing those goddamned capri pants every day and looking rather like this woman. Except uglier.

American Idiot
This is hilarious. From mblog, and excerpted from the Vancouver Sun:
"CBS, the U.S. television network, interrupted an episode of the top-rated CSI to broadcast a newsflash about the death last week of Yasser Arafat. We think the death of one of the world's most prominent figures is a good reason to butt into a commercial TV drama. But American viewers were so outraged that the network first apologized for the decision, then fired the offending producer."
Talk about fucked up priorities. And these are the people with the world by the balls...

Ending the Argument
Randomly, here is a list of Squaresoft's Final Fantasy games in descending order of awesomeness. Please keep in mind that this is all just my opinion, meaning that it is absolutely infallible and everyone else is wrong.

1. Final Fantasy IV ( 2 in North America )
2. Final Fantasy VI ( 3 in North America )
3. Final Fantasy VII
4. Final Fantasy IX
5. Final Fantasy V
6. Final Fantasy X
7. Final Fantasy III
8. Final Fantasy I
9. Final Fantasy II
10. Final Fantasy X-2
11. Final Fantasy VIII

I don't care what you Squall fanboys think, Final Fantasy VIII is abysmally bad. Makes me angry just thinking about it. I thought of including Final Fantasy Tactics on this list, which would have been way up there at #4, but then I would have had to include Chrono Trigger and Secret of Mana and this would have just went on to become a list of every good game I ever played. So there it is ( psst...Chrono Trigger is the best ). Final Fantasy XI is missing from the list for all you purists out there.

The fact that FFX-2 is higher on this list than FFVIII should draw some interesting comments. Or at least I hope so.

Bad Movies
Unfortunately, I ended up watching the Ali G Movie on Saturday, which is without a doubt the worst thing ever committed to film. In fact, from now on I plan to use it as the very bottom of the bad movie rating scale, with Peter Jackson's masterpiece Dead Alive sitting pretty at the very top. You see, there are bad movies that are just plain bad, and then there are bad movies that are so magnificent in their fully-realized badness that they become good. For examples, look no further than the Evil Dead series.

Seriously though, friends don't let friends see the Ali G movie. It was funny at points, but only because it is soooo over the top in its mind-knumbing stupidity. I actually felt dumber after seeing it. Avoid this movie at all costs.

Introductions!

This is my cat, Gandalf the Grey, who spends the vast majority of his days sleeping atop my monitor. He is an excellent companion and a badass cat who doesn't take shit from anybody. We're the best of friends though. We like the same kind of music. Or at least thats what I assume because he doesn't leave his perch when I put it on. He kind of just rolls over and stretches, which in cat sign language means, "Holy shit dude, Interpol rules!" He's been known to toke the reefer as well. And this one time he got drunk on Kahlua and started kicking everyone's ass, totally breaking beer bottles over heads and stuff. It's true, I have a scar from the flying pool cue. We made up after that though, and spent the night playing drunken Soul Calibur 2. Bastard is SO good with Kilik.

Right now he's taken to attacking my cursor. I did some research though and found out that it stole his lunch money in the second grade, so I hope he beats it down.

Drawing
Been drawing a little more as of late. It's something I've always been adept at but never took the time to work at. Mostly because video games, schoolwork and my girlfriend consume most of my waking hours. If i produce something of interest I'll post it on here. It's mostly concept art for my book. Yes, I am writing a book. In fact I am planning on writing nine of them. You may think that's funny now, jocko, but when you're serving me my quarter pounders in 5 years, I'll have the last laugh! *ahem*

Linkage!
Colin, who is a good friend of mine, has recently just started up his own blog. Check it out here.

Comments
Now I realize you people are all very very busy, what with your getting stoned and watching homestarrunner cartoons for hours, but the least you can do is leave me some comments. The comments feature is awesome and could be home to some very good discussions, if you people actually ever cared about anything. Last night I got a comment from some random guy, which is a good sign. Yay!

Another Comment.

Jaded, eh? Maybe you're right. Anyway, I wasn't saying you should be an english major just because I regret not being one. I just thought I'd stick up for all those dead authors that I think rock. But I guess they don't really need my help being already famous and whatnot, and, of course, being dead.

In the end, you are right to think that relevance is relative (an adjective I try to avoid). But lay off shakespeare though. Yeah, I know, nobody speaks that way anymore. But then again, nobody paints like Rembrandt any more, and nobody sculpts like Berini. Art is art regardless of relevance, and, of course, I don't think everyone should be an art major...

(I hope that doesn't sound like I'm picking a fight, just trying to clarify)

You are an interesting soul indeed, and I wonder who you are.
