These two photos - and their respective captions - do a perfect job of illustrating the racial discrimination taking place in the media coverage and rescue operations in New Orleans following the wrath of Hurricane Katrina.
Welcome to 2005's United States of America, the world's holier-than-thou democratic centerpiece, where equality is king. Now, if you'll excuse me, I think I'm going to go fucking throw up.
The poor black population is just now getting out of New Orleans, after enduring an entire week of being immersed in the Superdome/convention center sub-societies, where rape, violence, and impromptu black market drug trades have been rampant. With washrooms overrun, people have taken to relieving themselves anywhere and everywhere. Naturally, this has accelerated the spread of diseases a thousand fold.
Take a moment to reflect on how the situation would have been handled if New Orleans' population was mostly affluent whites.

I don't know man, about 70 percent of New Orleans is of black population with about 30 percent of those to be living in poverty. It's true though how you hardly see any whites in the superdome and convetion center. BET is having a telethon this week to raise some movie and they are having Kanye West on the show. I don't know if you seen it when he said that "Bush hates blacks".
It is just such a large evacuation and there pretty much isn't a scenario that FEMA could have ran to prepare for such an aftermath. It is sick though, all I see is the repeating images of those babies on their mothers laps and people looting. You can hardly blame the people though, I know you aren't blaming them, I am just saying. It is just so intense to see such a thing that you would most likely see in a movie like Twister of Dantes Peak.
What do you think of what they are doing with the flooded areas where they are pumping the toxic water out into the lake which would eventually seep into the Gulf of Mexico. It's insane cause this water is basically shit water and so many diseases are contained in it. I don't really know what to think about it though because I guess it can be looked at from too viewpoints. Getting the water out of the city so they can start repairing and rebuilding their infrasturcture. That is the short term point. The long term is the massive reprecussions this can have on the enviroment and people whos water comes from the gulf stream. It's just so hard to take in.
You are right though about the whole government thing. There is so much more money available for this cause then they let on and they could have taken care of all those people within a shorter period then a week and a half. Sigh, what is the world coming to?
Anyways. I hope to get a reply man. Good topic to speak of, bad topic to have occured.

If you had anything worthwhile to say, you'd have done your research to see that 24% of the population is white...and also that the population proportion that is trapped is the same, white or non-white. Crime will occur anywhere...especially if the cirme rate of a non-crisis society is high. Fucker.

Seriously though, if YOU had anything worthwhile to say, you would have given me compelling evidence to back the sweeping generalizations that you've formulated through what I can only assume to have been, at best, ignorant surmising.
Plus, the only concrete statistic you've given me - the fact that the population is merely 24% white - only further reinforces the point I was originally trying to make, so I don't really see where you thought you were going with that.
There's also the fact that this post is 5 months old - that's practically ancient by web log standards. you're flogging a proverbial dead (and thoroughly decomposed) horse. Why not find something more recent to swear on me about?
Speaking of which, I love how you waited until the VERY end to casually slip in the completely unnescessary obscenity in question...in fact, I almost didn't even notice it! In my opinion, that really speaks volumes about your obviously unshakable resolve, unfathomable depth of integrity, and impeccably-developed sense of self-restraint.
