Do the Evolution

Edit: 08/03/05
Welcome friends, to my much sleeker, much sexier webspace. Yesterday, while pissing away the hours here at the newsroom office, I spontaneously decided that I very much disliked my old green template. It just didn't "fit" my conception of this site anymore, and didn't coincide with my vision of where I want to take the blog in the future. And so, I adapted this fresh new icy blue/grey scheme and decided to do a little html-based adventuring to bring you the fantastic new sidebars you see to your right. I must give thanks to Ross for all his help in sorting out the problems I inadvertantly created with my coding inexperience, and to Smokey and his Brazenblog for the original inspiration. Anyway, since then I've been working on the site dilligently, experimenting with html and image editing, and am now quite close to having it exactly as I envisioned it when I first started out last year. Changes and new features include:
  • A basic blog template change leading to a major aesthetic makeover.
  • An expanded profile sidebar.
  • Added new "Currently..." sidebars to give you an idea of what I'm listening to, reading, and playing. Mouse over the images for a second to see a title. Within a few days each of these pictures will be working links directing you to the band websites and to book/game reviews and resources. This should be very useful to people looking to discover some new media.
  • Comments are now appropriately displayed in a small pop-up window, rather than having your browser load a new page.
  • The links section has been overhauled. The Blogroll section links to pages of personal friends, and the additional links section has been greatly expanded and categorized. Great for browsing if you're bored. I'm always adding links here, so expect this list to double or even triple in size over the next few weeks.
  • Blogger has finally implemented their own image uploading system, eliminating the need for clunky third-party software. This makes uploading images and making interesting layout choices much, much easier. My blog will be much more image-intensive as a result.
I think that's everything. I hope you enjoy the new look as much as I do, and make ample use of the new features. Please remember that this blog is designed under a 1280x1024 desktop resolution, and so if you're running anything larger, you aren't seeing the site as it is intended to look. Still, you shouldn't have any display problems while running resolutions as large as 800x600.

Oh yeah, I've also decided that the blog's name is no longer cutting it. I'm currently trying to think up a new one, something that maybe reflects the refined new look. Suggestions are welcome.

I like the new look man. In your words, it's "uber sexy". I was going to use that template as well, but I went witht he tan color since brown is one of my favorite colors. Looking forward to the new posts. :)

I like the albums being side by side and whatnot. I just may have to do that as well. Thanks for the ideas and inspiration and I will thank the other guys (Ross and Smokey) as well in my next post.

I've got to change it manually. Though I'd imagine someone with a little more coding knowledge than myself could come up with a way to automate it.
